The Carolina Panthers have confirmed that quarterback Cam Newton has signed a new five-year deal with the club.
The 26-year-old was entering the final year of his deal with the NFC South side after the club exercised the fifth-year option on his contract for the 2015 season.
The Panthers have moved to lock down the long-term future of the quarterback by signing him to a deal worth a reported $103.8m (£67.6m), with $60m (£39.1m) guaranteed, until the end of the 2020 season.
Newton has thrown for 14,426 yards and 82 touchdowns to 54 interceptions along with 2,571 rushing yards and 33 touchdowns in his four years in the NFL.
