Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has signed a new seven-year contract with the club, which will see him remain there until 2020.
Cutler said that the deal was not about the money offered but the chance to continue to work with coach Marc Trestman, who has started to get the best out of him.
"I wanted to stay here," NFL.com quotes Cutler as saying. "It was going to have to be from the Bears not wanting me back for me to test it.
"I'm happy to be married to him for seven more years. "We're here to win championships, not to make so-and-so amount of dollars. It's hard to spend all that in your lifetime."
Cutler has played for the Bears since 2009.
