Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Andrew Whitworth will miss their opening game of the 2013 NFL season with a knee injury.

The Cincinnati Bengals have confirmed that Andrew Whitworth will not make the trip to Chicago for the team's opening game of the 2013 NFL season.

The left tackle underwent knee surgery during the off-season and has not been able to practise with the team this team.

The 31-year-old's absence against the Chicago Bears will end his run of 67 straight starts for the Bengals.

Anthony Collins will start at left tackle in Whitworth's place.
