Gary Barnidge: 'Touchdown catch was lucky'

Gary Barnidge concedes that his touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens owed more to luck than skill.

Cleveland Browns tight end Gary Barnidge has admitted that his fourth-quarter touchdown catch against the Baltimore Ravens required "a lot of luck".

The Browns trailed 21-16 heading in into the final quarter in Maryland before Barnidge and Isaiah Crowell scores forced the game into overtime. Cleveland then triumphed, thanks to an overtime field goal from Travis Coons at M&T Bank Stadium.

However, Barnidge has conceded that his catch is one that could never possibly be practiced on the training field.

He told the Browns' official website: "I jumped up, and I knew the ball hit his foot. Then, I could feel the ball on my leg. I was cupping it, and I reached down and pulled it in. It's a great catch only because we won. Honestly, it was a lot of luck, not much skill.

"There's no way you can ever practice a catch like that. I wasn't laughing about it at first but now I can laugh about it because we won the game. I give a lot of credit to Josh [McCown]. He was under a lot of pressure and threw it to me. He threw it right on the money but he did that all day.

"I'm hoping this win can be a defining moment for this team. It could help us turn the season around. I think all of our passing took its toll on their defense. Our offensive line did a great job."

The Browns moved to 2-3, with the 5-0 Cincinnati Bengals still leading in the AFC North.
