Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine has revealed that the franchise is proud of how young quarterback Johnny Manziel has handled himself.
Manziel checked into rehabilitation treatment last month, and Pettine revealed that it was a voluntary move and not one suggested by the team.
"We had the same information everyone else in the league had. It's easy to look back now and say, 'What did you miss?' You can interpret something a little bit differently now and it turns out to be a deeper-rooted thing than you thought," Pettine told reporters.
"I just wanted to go visit him and see how he's doing, let him know that we're proud of him for the decision he made to go in."
The Browns are unsure about when Manziel will return to the team, and they are using the NFL scouting combine to evaluate their quarterback options.
