The Cleveland Browns have listed Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback on their first depth chart, with rookie Johnny Manziel as the back-up.
Although both quarterbacks shared time with the starters during practice on Tuesday, Hoyer was given more time as practice progressed. However, coach Mike Pettine was keen to downplay the story.
"Where Hoyer is ahead is his ability to throw a ball before a guy breaks open. But we certainly see Johnny making strides in that direction," Pettine said, ESPN reports.
In addition, Pettine refused to reveal which quarterback would start Saturday's pre-season opener against the Detroit Lions.
