Cleveland Browns centre Alex Mack has denied that he would have preferred a move to the Jacksonville Jaguars rather than re-sign with his current club.
The Jaguars had an offer sheet accepted by Mack before the Browns decided to match it, and the player has now moved to reassure fans that he is fully focused on his future with the club.
"I don't believe I ever said that," Mack told NFL.com. "Seeing the options and trying to test free agency and see what else was out there was something that we wanted to do and we had a small opportunity to kind of get a little bit of that.
"One thing that football teaches you is to look at the short side of things. Now, I've got next year to worry about and that's what I'm going to do. You can't look too far into the future. That's a future problem and we'll deal with that later."
Mack has played for the Browns for five seasons.
