Dallas Cowboys' Stephen Jones: 'Lack of pass rush cost us Super Bowl chance'

Dallas Cowboys executive vice-president Stephen Jones concedes that his side's lack of pressure on Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers cost them a chance at the Super Bowl.

Dallas Cowboys executive vice-president Stephen Jones has suggested that his side's lack of a pass rush last season cost them a chance to compete for the Super Bowl.

The NFC East side were defeated 26-21 in the divisional round of the playoffs in the 2014 campaign by the Green Bay Packers, which ended their season two games short of the title game.

Jones has blamed the loss on the lack of pressure the Cowboys produced on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

He told KRLD-FM: "At the end of the day, it's probably what cost us a chance to win a championship last year.

"We just didn't quite have the pass rush we needed to stop Aaron Rodgers when we needed to stop him or make the play that needed to be made when you're trying to win a Super Bowl, so these guys are getting a lot of good teaching."

The Cowboys were ranked 28th in the NFL in defensive sacks last season.
