Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has conceded that cornerback Morris Claiborne has failed to live up to expectations after the franchise traded up to acquire him in 2012.
The Cowboys traded up to number six overall to capture Claiborne, but after giving up a first- and second-round pick, Jones hasn't seen the player that he wanted yet.
"Is he what we had hoped for at this point when we drafted him with the sixth overall pick, giving up the [second-round] pick to go up to the sixth pick to get him? No. But he's going to be a good player," Jones said, according to NFL.com.
The 24-year-old claimed an interception on Sunday against the St Louis Rams, but his general poor form has led to questions over whether or not the Cowboys should bench him.
Claiborne is under further pressure as players who were drafted in the spots Jones traded away, Michael Brockers and Alshon Jeffery, have flourished in the league so far.
