Champ Bailey has revealed that he is "very close" to returning to action with the Denver Broncos.
The cornerback has missed the start of the 2013 NFL season after sustaining a foot injury during the pre-season.
The 35-year-old, who has been limited during this week's practices, told the team's website: "I'm definitely close. Very close.
"If I keep progressing like I am and having days like this, another successful day, I'll be ready [for Monday's game against the Oakland Raiders].
"It wasn't as bad as it could have been and the good news is that I can play this year. Barring any setbacks, I'll be out there as soon as possible. It's just all about when I feel good about going back out there."
Bailey made 66 tackles and two interceptions in 2012.
