The Denver Broncos have paid an emotional tribute to former wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, who has died at the age of 33.
Thomas - who won the 2015 Super Bowl with the Broncos - was found dead on Thursday at his home in Georgia, with preliminary information stating that he passed away from a medical issue.
The four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver spent nine seasons with the Broncos, who have been left "completely heartbroken" by his passing.
A statement from the Broncos read: "We are devastated and completely heartbroken by the sudden, tragic passing. DT was beloved by our entire organisation, his teammates, coaches, and our fans.
"During nine seasons in Denver, Demaryius established himself as a dominant, record-setting wide receiver who was an instrumental part of two championship runs and our victory in Super Bowl 50. His legacy as a Bronco extended far beyond the playing field as a caring, generous member of our community.
"DT loved giving back — especially spending time with children — and impacted countless lives through the Broncos Boys and Girls Club, hospital visits, his annual football camp and many other genuine interactions. Demaryius' humility, warmth, kindness and infectious smile will always be remembered by those who knew him and loved him."
Thomas also spent time with the Houston Texans, New England Patriots and New York Jets before announcing his retirement in June of this year. body check tags ::
