Denver Broncos general manager John Elway is optimistic over the future of wide receiver Cody Latimer ahead of his second season in the NFL.

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway has revealed that the club have "high expectations" for wide receiver Cody Latimer in his second year in the NFL.

The Broncos selected the 22-year-old in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, but the wideout played a limited role for his side as he could not break into the lineup ahead of Pro Bowlers Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, as well as veteran Wes Welker.

However, Elway remains confident that Latimer will have an impact at the club because of his strong work ethic.

"Cody worked his tail off. We have high expectations for Cody. He's a big, fast, strong wide receiver that we really believe is going to be help us win," Elway told reporters.

"He's got the ability now to catch the ball and get open, but also he does a great job on fourth down and has the ability to run after the catch.

"Obviously he didn't have the production that I'm sure he would have liked to have, as well as us, but he took advantage of all the opportunities he got, and he'll get a lot more opportunities this year."

Latimer recorded two receptions for 23 yards for the Broncos in the 2014 season.
