Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles says that he still has a lot to prove after missing the end of his first season in the NFL with a knee injury.

Ryan Broyles has said that he must prove himself to the Detroit Lions as he prepares for his second season with the team.

The wide receiver was drafted by the Lions last April, but missed the end of his rookie season with a knee ligament injury, having sustained the same injury during his final year in college.

The 25-year-old told the team's website: "There are milestones and you set out a timeline of where you want to be and I feel like I'm in the right direction right now.

"I wanted to prove myself. I feel like I did a good job last year when I got on the field, so this time around, I can hone my skills and not have to go out there and press. I'm still hungry and I still have a lot to prove, but it's a different aspect of it.

"I remember last year when my leg starting feeling 100%. I know what to expect this time around. I'm not really going to press it too much. I'm just going to listen to the doctors and listen to my body and take it from there."

Broyles had 310 receiving yards and two touchdowns during the 10 games he played in 2012.
