Reggie Bush has said that he expects to have opportunities against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend.
The running back joined the Detroit Lions during the off-season, having come to the end of his contract with the Miami Dolphins.
The 28-year-old told the team's official website: "Looking at our first game against Minnesota, the key will be our ability to execute and focus throughout the game. There are going to be ups and downs.
"I think there is going to be a lot of space and opportunity, especially from a running back standpoint. It's going to be vital for us and for me to go out there and make an impact in the run game.
"Because if I can make an impact in the run game, then that's going to make us that more dangerous. It's going to force the defense to play on us and not allow them to sit back and double-team [wide receiver] Calvin [Johnson] all day."
Bush recorded 986 rushing yards and scored six touchdowns last season.
