The Detroit Lions stave off a second-half comeback from the Oakland Raiders to record an 18-13 win in their NFL clash at Ford Field.

Matthew Stafford scored a fourth-quarter touchdown to guide the Detroit Lions to a 18-13 victory over the Oakland Raiders in their NFL clash this evening.

The Lions had a strong start to the contest as Stafford was able to move the ball seamlessly downfield, although his offense was held out of the endzone by the Raiders. Matt Prater kicked his team ahead by firing his 21-yard effort through the posts.

Stafford continued to connect with his receivers to move within reach of the endzone, but they were held in check once again by the visitors, leading to another field goal from Prater. The kicker then made his third kick of the game just before the break to put his team 9-0 ahead.

The Raiders were shut out in the first half, but Derek Carr sparked his team into life with a deep completion to Amari Cooper. Carr then benefited from a penalty call for his side after he threw an interception which was chalked off due to holding against the Lions.

As a result, Carr led his offense to the goalline where he handed the ball off to Latavius Murray to score the first touchdown of the match.

Oakland took the lead minutes later when Carr got into a rhythm once again to guide his team into the range of Sebastian Janikowski, who fired his 48-yarder through the posts. Janikowski then sent another kick between the posts from 56 yards to put his team ahead by four points.

However, the Lions showed spirit to rally against the AFC West outfit and they regained the lead at the start of the fourth quarter when Stafford carried the ball through the middle of the line to dive into the endzone.

Detroit's defense then added to the scoreline when Ezekiel Ansah put pressure on Carr in the pocket, forcing Donald Penn to hold the defensive end, which resulted in a two-point safety for the home side.

Oakland tried to come back late in the match, but the Lions held out to claim their third win of the season, while the Raiders drop to 4-6 in their campaign.
