Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers believes that his side are one or two pieces away from being a "great" team.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has expressed his belief that his side are a "couple of pieces" away from being a "great" team.

The Packers were eliminated in the playoffs at the first hurdle by the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday, succumbing to a field goal as time expired to fall to a 23-20 defeat.

However, Rodgers is already looking to the future and is confident that his side can make major strides in the league during the six remaining years on his contract.

"I think this organization understands that we have the chance to be great and contend. We just need a couple more pieces," Rodgers told ESPN.

"I think this window has a chance to open up and be really bright for four or five years when you can get guys signed and keep them around.

"My contract is for six more years. I expect to be playing well, at a high level, for all six of those years and then see what happens after that. Maybe we'll be able to go another three or four or who knows?"

Meanwhile, Rodgers has also admitted that he didn't deliver the "greatness" that his team "expects" from him during the playoff match against the 49ers.
