Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak has revealed that his side will move Ed Reed from the physically unable to perform list to their active roster on Saturday.
The former Baltimore Ravens safety has missed the majority of the Texans' pre-season following hip surgery but could play in his side's opener against the San Diego Chargers on September 9.
Kubiak told ESPN: "He'll be back [Saturday] and we're hoping to do some field drills on Monday and Tuesday with our extra days, with him, with [head trainer Geoff Kaplan].
"So we'll probably make a quick decision early in the week, Monday or Tuesday on his availability for San Diego. But we're sitting here hoping and we'll see how that goes."
Reed spent 11 seasons with the Ravens before moving to Houston in the off-season.
