Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett reveals that he wants to remain with the club next season to win his place back as Bill O'Brien's starting signal caller.

Houston Texans quarterback Ryan Mallett is determined to win back his place as the club's starter for the 2015 season.

Mallett was traded to the Texans from the New England Patriots at the start of the season, and won the starting job from Ryan Fitzpatrick midway through the campaign.

However, the 26-year-old sustained a torn pectoral muscle against the Cincinnati Bengals and was ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Mallett becomes a free agent in March, but is desperate to remain with Bill O'Brien's men.

"Yeah. Of course. I like it here. I love the system," he told reporters. "But it's not the time of the year to discuss that. So we're still in season; we're focused on the [Baltimore] Ravens.

"I'm attacking [the rehab] every morning so we'll see how it goes. There's no timetable. Day-to-day. We'll see how it feels every day."

Mallett threw for 400 yards along with two touchdowns to two interceptions in his two starts for the Texans.
