Talks have broken down between the Houston Texans and Pierre Thomas, according to his agent.
The running back is a free agent following his release from the New Orleans Saints after eight seasons in Louisiana.
The Texans are on the lookout for a new running back following the news that Arian Foster needs surgery on a groin problem.
However, Thomas's agent has said that a deal has not been agreed after talks on Tuesday.
The 30-year-old has scored 28 career touchdowns.
