The Jacksonville Jaguars have released defensive tackle Kyle Love less than four months after claiming him off waivers from the New England Patriots.
Love joined the Jaguars after the Patriots had released him with a non-football injury/illness designation due to him being diagnosed with Type Two diabetes.
However, the Jaguars acquired seven new players off waivers on Sunday, resulting in the 26-year-old being released again just a day after surviving the 53-man roster cut.
"That really came down to a numbers game for us. We feel like we have up to six players who can play inside for us on any given down," Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell explained to reporters.
"We were able to find players [on waivers] that could help us on special teams and help us and we weren't sure if we could activate all seven interior defensive linemen."
Love was one of seven players released by the Jaguars. Antwon Blake, Brett Brackett, Dan Gerberry, Lonnie Pryor, Jordan Shipley and Andy Studebaker were also let go.
