NFL announces salary cap for 2015 season

The NFL confirms that the salary cap figure for the 2015 season will be set at $143.28m.

The NFL has announced that the salary cap will be set at $143.28m (£93.2m) for the 2015 season.

The figure has increased by over $10m (£6.5m) from the 2014 season due to the terms of a bumper television deal, and is $5m (£3.25m) over reported estimates.

The increase in the cap will allow teams greater spending power in the upcoming free-agent market, and will define the financial terms of the franchise and transition tags.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have the most space on their cap to use out of all the 32 teams with $68.2m (£44.5m) at their disposal.
