Alex Smith unsure why the Kansas City Chiefs are better away from home

Alex Smith says that the Kansas City Chiefs are prepared for all games that they play, whether they are home or away.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has said that he does not know why the team are performing better on the road than they are at their Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs are without a home victory since the end of October and face another away trip when they visit the Oakland Raiders this weekend.

Smith's side bounced back from three straight defeats by crushing the Washington Redskins last Sunday.

He told reporters: "I don't know why we're doing well away, but I certainly think you have to be able to play anywhere. I mean, we'd love to be able to play at home, with home-field advantage, but it's part of the game. You have to be able to play anywhere.

"I don't know if there's any one thing to point to. I think this team has done a great job with just staying focused all weeks, home and away. Coach does a really good job as far as schedule, you know, just keeping us consistent, when we do travel, so it's good to get into a routine, when we do travel on the road."

Should the Broncos defeat the San Diego Chargers on Thursday, the Chiefs will need to win themselves to avoid their rivals clinching the AFC West title.
