Sports Mole

The 2013 NFL Draft concluded on Saturday and we saw exciting action from New York City as all 32 teams picked their next array of talent.

In all 254 players were selected across the seven rounds of the draft and as usual there was a number of surprises.

On Saturday, the first pick in the fourth round saw USC quarterback Matt Barkley end his slide down the draft as the Philadelphia Eagles traded up to snag him.

Elsewhere, the Seattle Seahawks got themselves a late gem as selected defensive tackle Jesse Williams in the fifth round.

For all those picks and more, check out the action as it happened below.

Welcome to Sports Mole's coverage of the NFL Draft. We'll bring you all the latest picks from New York City as they happen.
TRADE!! The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded the 98th pick in the draft to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Phildelphia Eagles select USC quarterback Matt Barkley with the 98th pick.
TRADE!! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded for the 100th pick in the draft.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected defensive tackle Akeem Spence from the Universtiy of Illinois.
The Miami Dolphins have selected outside linebacker Jelani Jenkins with the 104th pick in the draft, from the University of Florida.
The Buffalo Bills have selected Nevada safety Duke Williams with the 105th pick in the draft. They needed some help in their secondary after the departure of George Wilson.
Miami are back in action and have selected tight end Dion Sims with the 106th pick from Michigan State. A lot of teams are going with big tight end’s these days, following the success of the system at the New England Patriots.
The Tennessee Titans are bulking up their offensive line for star running back Chris Johnson by selecting centre Brian Schwenke with the 107th pick from the University of California.
The Carolina Panthers likewise are strengthening their line with with 108th pick with guard Edmund Kugbila from Valdosta State.
Aaron Rodgers was sacked over 50 times last season and the Green Bay Packers are looking to solve that issue by selecting offensive tackle, David Bakhtiari from the University of Colorado.
Quarterback klaxon!!! Syracuse's Ryan Nassib has been selected by the New York Giants to back up Eli Manning.
Nassib was rumoured to be a target of former coach Doug Marrone at the Buffalo Bills to go in the first round and he's fallen all the way to the fourth. Ouch!
The Pittsburgh Steelers select safety Shamarko Thomas with the 111th pick. Troy Polamalu isn't a young as he once was and has had injury problems, this pick makes sense.
Quarterback klaxon!!! Another quarterback goes off the board as Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson goes to the Oakland Raiders.
The St Louis Rams have done solid work so far and they add to that with a very good and versatile offensive lineman as they select Barrett Jones from the University of Alabama with the 113th pick.
Jones has won three BCS National Championship's with the Crimson Tide and is said to be renowned coach Nick Saban's favourite all time player.
The Dallas Cowboys have chosen to upgrade their secondary with a move for cornerback B.W Webb from William and Mary.
Quarterback klaxon!!! Another QB off the board as the Pittsburgh Steelers take Oklahoma signal caller Landry Jones with the 115th pick.
The Arizona Cardinals continue to rebuild under Bruce Arians as they land guard Earl Watford from Madison University.
The Chicago Bears might have a steal here as they pick up outside linebacker Khaseem Greene from Rutgers. This players was slated as second round pick and has won several accolades in his College Divison in the past few seasons. They needed to replace their linebacking core after letting Brian Urlacher go and Greene's an excellent pick.
A run on outside linebackers now as Sean Porter from Texas A & M goes to the Cincinnati Bengals with the 118th pick. Can he have similar success to former Aggie Von Miller?
The Washington Redskins had problems in their secondary last season and they've chosen to rectify these problems by picking safety Phillip Thomas from Fresno State. He can play either free safety or strong, he's an underrated player.
Penn State had a solid season last year and the Minnesota Vikings seem to have noticed as they've selected their outside linebacker Gerald Hodges with the 120th pick.
Matt Barkley went with the first pick in the fourth round and now his centre from USC has gone as well with Khaled Holmes being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, to work with last year's number one overall selection Andrew Luck.
Aaron Rodgers may have had a word with his front office in the off season after being sacked as they've now taken their second offensive lineman of the round with J.C Tretter from Cornell.
The Seattle Seahawks went out and got Percy Harvin with a trade of their first round pick and they've gone for another wide receiver now as they've taken Chris Harper from Kansas State University.
As if the Houston Texans defensive line weren't strong enough already they've now added another piece up front with the addition of Trevardo Williams with the 124th pick.
Running back time and it seems the Packers have been on the clock permanently this round as they add Jonathan Franklin from UCLA. Yesterday they drafted Alabama running back Eddie Lacy, so they've definitely targeted getting Rodgers some help.
Another faller of note and this maybe the sins of the cousin as William Gholston gets picked up the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His cousin Vernon was selected with the 6th overall pick by the New York Jets in 2008 and was a bust.
The Atlanta Falcons take defensive end Malliciah Goodman with the 127th pick from Clemson.
The San Francisco 49ers might have the most talented roster in the NFL and they've added to that talent as they've taken wide receiver Quinton Patton from Louisville. This player was mooted to be a second/third round talent but he's fallen right into the clutches of Jim Harbaugh here.
Couple of Ravens picks now as they take DE John Simon and full back from Harvard Kyle Juszczyk, in back to back selections.
When I mentioned adding late quality talent, well, the 49ers have done it again, selecting running back Marcus Lattimore from South Carolina. He's had terrible injury problems as he blew out his knee early last year, but he's got a lot of talent.
To finish off the fourth round, the Detroit Lions take defensive end Devin Taylor at 132 and the Falcons select tight end Levine Toilolo. Could he be a replacement for Tony Gonzalez next year?
We had some technical difficulties earlier so catching up. The Chiefs selected inside linebacker Nico Johnson at 99. The Jaguars selected receiver Ace Sanders at 101 and the New England Patriots took receiver Josh Boyce at 102.
Right now onto the fifth round.
First up the Chiefs take cornerback Sander Commings from Georgia with the 134th pick.
Quarterback klaxon!!! The Jaguars take Michgan QB Denard Robinson. This is curious pick because he went to the Senior Bowl as a receiver. He could play wideout or he could play running back, lots of options for the Jags here. Talented player who doesn't really have a position.
The Eagles are howling as they select safety Earl Wolff from North Carolina State with the 136th pick. They've bolstered their safety corps already this off season with the addition of Patrick Chung.
TRADES!! The Seattle Seahawks moves up to snag defensive tackle from Alabama Jesse Williams. A solid pick for an already elite defence. If that's not enough they've also added LSU corner Tharold Simon, whose draft stock fell following an altercation with a police officer.
The Colts are trying to shed their soft image against the run and one of the best ways to do that is by drafting a monster defensive tackle, which they've done with the 139th taking 329lb Montori Hughes from Tennessee Martin.
The 140th and 141st picks are in. The Cardinals take running back Stepfan Taylor from Stamford while the Jets add offensive tackle Oday Aboushi from Virginia.
Another talent from the prestigious LSU production line comes off the board as Lavar Edwards is taken by the Titans.
An off the radar selection for Bills as they take Jonathan Meeks, a defensive back, from Clemson while the New Orleans Saints give another weapon to Drew Brees as they add receiver Kenny Stills from Oklahoma.
The San Diego Chargers take a corner from California with the 145th pick which is Steve Williams. While the Denver Broncos get great value as they get highly rate defensive end Quanterus Smith from Kentucky.
Picks coming in thick and fast now. The Buccaneers pick up defensive end Steven Means, while the Panthers snap up linebacker AJ Klein.
Again no rest for the wicked as two corners come off the board in succession. Miami's Brandon McGee goes to the St Louis Rams, while the Steelers pick up Illinois's Terry Hawthorne with the 150th pick.
The Cowboys have got themselves a keeper and a possible dual threat on the ground along with DeMarco Murray as they draft Oklahoma back Joseph Randle. That'll give Tony Romo a lot of help.
The Giants take snagged themselves some safety help and he's a monster 6ft 4in Taylor Cooper from Richmond, a lot bigger than your prototypical safety.
TRADE!! The Falcons make a trade with the Bears to move up for defensive end Stansly Maponga from Texas Christian University at 153.
Punter klaxon!!!!! We have our first punter taken in the draft as Jeff Locke is taken by the Minnesota Vikings. Punters are people too!!
Three quick fire picks as the Bengals select an OT in the form of Tanner Hawkinson, the 49ers add another DE in Alabama's Quinton Dial. While the Seahawks pick up a tight end at 158 from Rice, in Luke Wilson. A Wilson-Wilson combo at Century Link Field next season.
Green Bay turn their attention to their defence for the first time since the first round to help their secondary as they take Micah Hyde from Iowa. While the Rams add another talented back to their offence with Zac Stacey from Vanderbilt.
Some quality picks now for the Broncos who add to their impressive wide receiver corps with Tavarres King and the Redskins add a defensive end from Florida State in the form of Brandon Jenkins, a highly rated prospect before he was injured at the start of last season.
The Bears are eyeing some protection for quarterback Jay Cutler and have taken measures to do so snapping up offensive tackle Jordan Mills from Louisiana Tech with the 163rd pick.
Punter klaxon!!!!! We have another punter taken as the Detroit Lions select Sam Martin from Appalachian State.
Kicker klaxon!!!!! We have our first kicker taken as the Dolphins select Caleb Sturgis from Flordia with the 166th pick. Oh my, two special teamers in a row.
The Packers and the Ravens close out round five by selecting defensive tackle Josh Boyd and offensive tackle Ricky Wagner respectively.
Let's go round six. Jacksonville Jaguars are up first.
We're underway in the sixth round as the Jaguars take their second safety in the draft, as they pick Josh Evans from Florida. He joins Jonathan Cyprien in the secondary to be drafted this week.
Rush on picks now, as the Chiefs select centre Eric Kush, the Lions take receiver Corey Fuller while the Raiders pick up Colorado tight end Nick Kasa with the 172nd pick.
The Broncos select another offensive players, this time a tackle to keep Peyton Manning upright, as they select Vinston Painter from Virginia Tech, from a pick that had changed hands an amazing five times!
Another rush on picks as receiver Ryan Swope is picked up by the Cardinals at 174. The Browns make their first selection since 68 as they select Jamoris Slaughter, safety from Notre Dame. While offensive tackle David Quessenberry lands at the Texans.
Kicker klaxon!!!!! We have our second kicker taken as the Bills select Dustin Hopkins from Florida State.
The Jets take on a bit of a project as they select William Campbell from Michigan. He played as a defensive tackle at the Wolverines but he was worked out at offensive tackle by several teams. So a decision to be made there by Rex Ryan and co.
Quick roundup of the last four picks. The Chargers have added defensive end Tourek Williams, the 49ers have selected outside linebacker Nick Moody, the Raiders have taken running back Latavius Murray while the Panthers have also added a rb with Kenjon Barner at 182.
TRADE ALERT!! The New England Patriots have traded a seventh round selection and running back Jeff Demps to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for running back LaGarette Blount.
Pick update: The Saints select defensive end Rufus Johnson, the Raiders have bolstered their receiving corps with tight end Mychal Rivera. The Cowboys meanwhile have used the 185th pick on linebacker Devonte Holloman.
Another running back for the Arizona Cardinals as the select Andre Ellington from Clemson backing up their selection earlier in the day of Stepfan Taylor.
The Bears have continued to bolster their linebacking group following their departure of Brian Urlacher, as they select Cornelius Washington from Georgia with the 188th pick.
A run of running backs!!! The Buccaneers and the Bengals snap up Mike James and Rex Burkhead respectively with the 189th and 190th picks.
Another run on another position this tends to happen a lot in the draft. The Redskins select safety Bacarri Rambo from Georgia, while the Colts follow suit with a safety of their own as they pick John Boyett from Oregon.
The Bengals pick up a faller from Arkansas as they draft receiver Cobi Hamilton with the 197th pick. The Bengals acquired that pick from the Patriots which saw Chad Ochocinco move to New England.
The 199th pick that was used to draft Tom Brady in 2000, is this year used by the Detroit Lions to draft running back Theo Riddick.
The Superbowl Champions Ravens have been on the clock twice in the past few picks and have taken defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore and offensive tackle Ryan Jensen.
The Steelers close out the sixth round by taking linebacker Vince Williams from Florida State with the 206th pick.
Let the seventh round begin!
To begin the seventh round the Chiefs take an Ivy League prospect as they selected defensive end Mike Catapano from Princeton.
Two early picks for the Jaguars and that's them done for this year as they bring in cornerbacks Demetrius McCray and Jeremy Harris.
Very curious that the Jags didn't take a quarterback given their struggles at the position recently. It looks as though they are set to keep faith in Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne.
The Eagles have selected a defensive end of note Joe Kruger, brother of Cleveland Browns's Paul Kruger who was so instrumental in his former team the Baltimore Ravens Superbowl success. Joe will be hoping to have a similar career to his older brother.
Two picks in succession for the Vikings as they get another Penn State linebacker to follow Gerald Hodges as they select Michael Mauti while they also pick up guard Travis Bond.
The Eagles have finally selected cornerback Jordan Poyer from Oregon State, he was scheduled to be selected in the region of the third and fourth round, so he fell drastically. Poyer will be relieved to be picked up.
Quarterback klaxon!!!! The Chargers take the first quarterback since the fourth round as they select Brad Sorensen from Southern Utah with the 221st pick.
Quick roundup of the last few picks. The Bills have taken tight end Chris Cragg, the Steelers selected defensive tackle Nick Williams, the Packers selected receiver Kevin Dorsey and the Giants took guard Eric Herman.
The Patriots have finally drafted for the first time in six hours and have gotten a good value pick, taking Illinois defensive end Michael Buchanan with the 226th pick.
Two more fallers as the Redskins take Rutgers running back Jawan Jamison and the Vikings take defensive tackle Everett Dawkins, both would have expected to be picked earlier today.
Quarterback klaxon!!!! We have another quarterback taken and surprisingly it's the Denver Broncos who draft Miami Ohio QB Zac Dysert with the 234th pick.
Quarterback klaxon!!!! Another goes and it's the 49ers this time. They select B.J Daniels from South Florida, to back up Colin Kaepernick.
The Bears have got themselves a player with the 236th pick as they've selected Washington State receiver Marquess Wilson. Was highly rated and again was predicted to be a third-fourth round pick. So he's fallen a long way.
Talking of great value, the Bengals have got a bargain of their own as they've grabbed offensive tackle Reid Fragel The Ohio State University, with the 240th selection.
The Seahawks finish their draft by selecting defensive tackle Jared Smith from New Hampshire and offensive tackle Michael Bowie from NE Oklahoma State.
The Falcons all but wrap up their selections with defensive back Kemal Ishmael and a steal of a pick at 244 as they get Notre Dame safety Zeke Motta.
Quarterback klaxon!!!! The Falcons finish their draft as they take a quarterback!! They select Sean Renfree from Duke University with the 249th pick.
The 49ers finish their draft with Rutgers cornerback Marcus Cooper, their 11th pick of this draft. There's going to be a lot of competition at training camp this summer.
Mr Irrelevant!!! The final pick of the 2013 NFL Draft is tight end Justice Cunningham from South Carolina and he was selected by the Indianapolis Colts.
That brings an end to the 2013 NFL Draft. Thanks for joining our coverage and now it's only five months until the start of the 2013 season. We'll see you again soon.
