Miami Dolphins veteran John Denney has expressed his belief that the bullying scandal within the team has been "overblown".
An NFL report found that Richie Incognito and two other offensive linemen regularly harassed and verbally abused teammate Jonathan Martin, forcing him to leave the team last season.
However, Denney, who is the Dolphins' players' union representative, insists that the abuse is nothing new and believes that similar scenarios could be found in every team in the league.
"It's overblown, because this has been my experience with the league my entire career from day one," Denney told The AP
.
"If something needed to be done, it needed to be done a long time ago. It has never escalated. I never saw conditions worsen. I guess we're late in getting to the issue.
"I would be comfortable in saying if you put an investigation on any of the 32 teams in the NFL, you're going to come out with the exact same results."
Incognito was suspended by the team in light of the allegations in November and will become a free agent in March.
