Miami Dolphins safety Michael Thomas has revealed that Jonathan Martin texted him a congratulatory message after he helped his side beat the New England Patriots 24-20 on Sunday.
Thomas picked off a Tom Brady pass in the endzone in the dying stages of his debut to ensure that his side would remain in the hunt for a wildcard playoff place.
The safety is a good friend and former Stanford college teammate of Martin, who left the Dolphins in October after allegedly being bullied and harassed by guard Richie Incognito.
"He's one of my best friends at Stanford. So he texted me right after the game. He [said], 'He sees me and congrats.' That's it. That means a lot. I looked up to Jon when he got drafted in the second round and all his hard work he put in at Stanford," Thomas told reporters.
The Dolphins will clinch a place in the playoffs if they beat the Buffalo Bills and the New York Jets in their final two games of the season.
