Adrian Peterson: 'I want to be the greatest player in the history of the NFL'

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson reveals that he wants to become the greatest player in the history of the NFL.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has outlined his ambition to be remembered as the "greatest" player in NFL history.

The 30-year-old was named the NFL MVP in the 2012 campaign when he rushed for over 2,000 yards.

Peterson missed the majority of the 2014 season as he was suspended by the league after filing a no contest plea of causing reckless or negligent injury to his four-year old son, but was later reinstated by the NFL after US District Court Judge David Doty overturned their decision.

The running back is confident that his status as a future Hall of Famer will not be affected by the incident last year, and is now determined to etch his name in the history of the game.

When asked how he would liked to be remembered, he told reporters: "Not just the greatest running back. The greatest player."

He added: "I'm going to be blunt and honest with you. I feel like if I didn't play another snap in my life, I got the opportunity to go in the Hall of Fame right now."

Peterson has rushed for 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns in his eight-year NFL career.
