NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has insisted that there is no connection between the spygate and deflategate scandals involving the New England Patriots.
ESPN released a report on Tuesday, making several claims against the Patriots. The allegations ranged from the club sending employees into the locker rooms of opposing teams at Gillette Stadium to steal playsheets to the filming of practices of the Carolina Panthers ahead of Super Bowl XXXVIII.
However, Goodell is adamant that the two scandals are separate incidents and were treated as so by the league during their investigation into the deflategate incident earlier this year.
He told the Mike and Mike Show: "I have not seen this report, Mike, in any way, but I can just tell you I'm not aware of any connection between the spygate procedures and the procedures we went through here.
"We obviously learn from every time we go through any kind of a process, try to improve it, get better at it, but there's no connection in my mind to the two incidents."
The Patriots were heavily sanctioned by the NFL for both incidents.
