The New England Patriots have signed defensive linemen Bruce Gaston and Kelcy Quarles from the waiver wire.
Gaston had spent the off-season with the Arizona Cardinals after joining the club as an undrafted free agent, but failed to make the 53-man roster as part of Saturday's cutdown.
Quarles had a similar fate to his new teammate as he joined the New York Giants after going undrafted and was cut by the club despite a strong showing in pre-season.
The Patriots made room to sign both players by releasing linebacker Chris White and trading quarterback Ryan Mallett to the Houston Texans.
Bill Belichick's side open their 2014 campaign against the Miami Dolphins next Sunday.
