New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo could be out for the season after undergoing surgery on a torn pectoral muscle, according to a report.
The 27-year-old sustained the injury in his side's win over the New Orleans Saints when tackling Darren Sproles in the fourth quarter.
Mayo immediately left the field and his arm was put in a sling. On Tuesday he underwent the surgery to repair the damage which could leave him out for the year, according to Yahoo Sports.
The Patriots are already without one of their defensive captains as defensive tackle Vince Wilfork was ruled out for the season with a torn Achilles.
