The New England Patriots have named Tedy Bruschi as the team's honorary captain for the Super Bowl.
Former player Bruschi has stood in the position for the Patriots on six different occasions having retired from the game before the start of the 2009 season, with New England winning all of those encounters.
"He was called the perfect Patriot by head coach Bill Belichick," said Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
"With an undefeated record in the games that we have honored him, including the 45-7 win in the AFC Championship game two weeks ago, Tedy is the perfect player to serve as our honorary captain for Sunday's Super Bowl."
The Pats are looking to claim a fourth Super Bowl crown at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.
