New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston has insisted that his side had worked on their final play during Saturday's playoff defeat to the Seattle Seahawks.
Colston caught a pass from Drew Brees with 11 seconds on the clock before attempting to throw one of his own across the field to Travaris Cadet, but his effort was off target, consigning the Saints to a 23-15 defeat and elimination from the playoffs.
Coach Sean Payton revealed that the play had been pre-planned and Colston has now confirmed that.
"It's a play that we worked on. Obviously, it's not an ideal situation, but the ball came out. And obviously the throw didn't go the way I would have planned. But, it happens," Colston told reporters.
The result saw the Seahawks progress to the NFC title game this Sunday where they will face the San Francisco 49ers.
