New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis has revealed that he is slightly concerned that his decision to trade Darren Sproles to the Philadelphia Eagles might come back to haunt him.
The Saints were prepared to release the running back due to his high salary for next season, but the Eagles sent a fifth-round pick in the 2014 Draft to the club for his services.
"Look that's our competition, but every team in the NFL is our competition at some level," Loomis told reporters. "When you trade him to another NFL team, which is all we can do, there's a high likelihood you're going to improve that team.
"And that may come back to bite you. That's OK. I wish Darren nothing but the best. I know he'll be successful, and we'll be happy for that."
Sproles recorded 824 total yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns in the 2013 season.
