The New York Giants are reportedly poised to interview Steve Spagnuolo and Pepper Johnson for their vacant defensive coordinator position.
The club fired Perry Fewell from the role following their struggles 2014, ending the 52-year-old's five-season tenure with Tom Coughlin's men.
Spagnuolo is currently the secondary coach with the Baltimore Ravens, but was in the position at the Giants for two seasons and was part of the coaching staff that won Super Bowl XLII against the New England Patriots.
Johnson played for the Giants for seven seasons from 1986 to 1992 and he was part of two Super Bowl-winning teams in 1986 and 1990, before he joined the Patriots as a coach. He is currently with the Buffalo Bills as defensive line coach, a role which he assumed in 2014.
Both men are among the top candidates for the role to replace Fewell, reports the New York Post, as Coughlin is determined to guide his team back to the post-season.
The Giants have failed to reach the playoffs in the past three seasons.
