The New York Jets put tight end Jace Amaro on season-ending injured reserve after he sustained a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which requires surgery.

The New York Jets have placed tight end Jace Amaro on season-ending injured reserve due to a shoulder injury.

The 23-year-old sustained the injury during his side's pre-season clash against the Detroit Lions two weeks ago, and it has now been revealed to be more serious than the club admitted at the time.

Amaro suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which needs surgery to repair and as a result has ruled him out of the 2015 season.

"When he got hurt it was more of the shoulder, and it was either a two-three week period to get better, or if it didn't get any better, we knew we'd have to go ahead and do the surgery and shelve him," Jets head coach Todd Bowles told reporters.

"We gave him time to get better, and the end result is he didn't get better, so we had to do surgery and put him on injured reserve."

Amaro recorded 38 receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season for the Jets.
