New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has refuted claims that he wanted to fire offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg earlier this season.
The Jets have struggled on offense throughout the campaign as they have been unable to find any consistency out of the quarterback position, with both Geno Smith and Michael Vick short of their best form.
Reports suggested that Ryan was considering the future of Mornhinweg on two occasions, but he has vehemently denied the speculation.
He told reporters: "I would deny that, 100% I would deny that I'm looking to fire Marty or anybody. Maybe there's a perception, when we challenge each other all the time, coaches, we've got to get the best out of our guys.
"When you have conversations, I don't know where it's coming from. To me, I think it's a complete bogus deal. So, I'm not saying it wasn't said by somebody, but it certainly wasn't said by me or thought by me."
The Jets are ranked 30th in the NFL in scoring offense this season.
