Rex Ryan has insisted that Geno Smith has the backing of the New York Jets, despite throwing two interceptions in the team's defeat to the Chicago Bears earlier this week.
The quarterback was picked off by Ryan Mundy on the opening drive of the 27-19 loss, resulting in a touchdown for the Bears.
The team's head coach told reporters: "Everybody is behind Geno. He's our quarterback and our football team believes in him. Geno is a mentally tough guy.
"We're happy we have [backup quarterback] Mike Vick on this team, but we believe in Geno. We understand it wasn't great, he made some mistakes, but we just have to get better and learn from these and move on.
"I just think it shows that the guy, he has it. There's no question he has it inside. He can get it done."
Smith has committed 30 turnovers since being drafted in 2013.
