New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez eyeing mental improvement

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez feels that he will cut out a large percentage of his turnovers if he can improve the mental side of his game.

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez believes that if he can improve the mental side of his game, then he will turn the ball over less.

The 26-year-old lost the ball 26 times last season for Rex Ryan's side, as he threw 18 interceptions and fumbled eight times.

Sanchez told the New York Post: "I totally believe in the power of your mind. As long as I'm studying and as long as I understand the plays and the reads like I know I do, then that's just mental makeup.

"It just shouldn't happen. It's crazy. It's really hard to convey to somebody. I just have to go do it. That's the most important thing.

"I just have to show it. I just have to prove I can take care of the ball like I know I can and get the ball to the right guy."

Sanchez was drafted sixth overall by the Jets in the 2009 draft and led them to the AFC Championship game in the 2009 and 2010 seasons, but they lost on both occasions.
