New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has admitted that he did not feel himself during a recent slump in form.
In a three-game stretch which looks likely to cost the Jets a playoff spot, Smith threw six interceptions and no touchdown passes, before bouncing back in the 37-27 win over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
Of his bad run of form, the rookie told reporters: "At times, I was playing like a robot. But last weekend, I was just playing freely again. It goes back to not thinking about all my past mistakes.
"I think I got into this zone where I just tried to be way too perfect, and that's almost impossible to do at any level, especially as a rookie."
The Jets currently sit in third spot in the AFC East with a 6-7 record.
