Michael Vick has claimed that he "revolutionised" the way that modern quarterbacks play in the NFL.
The quarterback, who joined the New York Jets earlier in the off-season following a five-year stint with the Philadelphia Eagles, is known for his running ability as well as passing, completing 5,857 rushing yards and scoring 36 rushing touchdowns since entering the league in 2001.
Vick, who turns 34 next week, told ESPN: "I was the guy who started it all. I revolutionised the game. I changed the way it was played in the NFL.
"The things I've done, I've pretty much surpassed myself and expectations, over 25,000 yards in total offense in the NFL, and I missed a lot of years and a lot of games."
Vick will start the 2014 season as backup to starting quarterback Geno Smith.
