Michael Vick: 'We may have a better record had I started sooner'

New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick believes that the club would have a better record than 2-8 if he had been the starter in week one of the campaign.

New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick feels that his side may have been in a better situation had he started for the club at the beginning of the season.

The 34-year-old guided his side to their second win of the campaign in their victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, in his second start after replacing Geno Smith as the club's starter last week.

Vick believes that if he was in the team sooner, the club may have bettered their 2-8 record held in week 10 of the campaign.

When asked if the Jets would have a better record if he had been the week one starter, Vick told reporters: "In my heart, yes.

"So me saying that, please don't get it misconstrued. Please don't go out and say, 'Mike Vick felt like if he was the starter, then we would be winning,' because that's not what I'm saying right now.

"I'm saying in front of all these cameras that, if given an opportunity, yeah, I believe our team would've maybe won some games. That's speaking from experience and playing in the league for a long time."

The Jets are next in action in week 12 of the season against the Buffalo Bills.
