NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has insisted that the prospect of an NFL franchise based in London is becoming "more realistic".
The sport has enjoyed a growth in popularity in the United Kingdom in recent years, with a number of regular-season matches being held at Wembley Stadium.
Three games will be played in London during the 2014 campaign - the most ever in a single season - and Goodell announced in a Twitter question and answer session that the likelihood of a team being based there permanently is growing.
Wembley will host the Miami Dolphins vs. the Oakland Raiders on September 28, the Detroit Lions vs. Atlanta Falcons on October 26 and the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 9 next season.
