St Louis Rams break franchise record against sorry Oakland Raiders

Tre Mason and the St Louis Rams put up 52 unanswered points against the hapless Oakland Raiders to ease to victory in Missouri.

Five touchdowns and a field goal from the St Louis Rams saw them break a franchise record for points scored during the first half, during a comprehensive win over the Oakland Raiders.

The opening 30 minutes were hell for the visiting Raiders, who got off to a poor start when they allowed running back Tre Mason to score a receiving touchdown down their right side after just three minutes.

Shortly after, quarterback Shaun Hill ran in for a score of his own, with the Raiders all expecting Mason to be the man carrying the ball.

Tavon Austin was the next Rams player to score, himself rushing in an 18-yard touchdown after a long reception from Stedman Bailey.

In the second quarter, Mason added his second touchdown, running from his own three-yard line, breaking tackles and ending up going for 89 yards.

Hill found Cory Harkey before half time for the fifth score, while a Greg Zuerlein field goal broke a long-standing record, set back during the days of legendary quarterback Kurt Warner.

The Rams eased up slightly after the interval, though the returning Chris Long sacked Derek Carr as the defense stood firm.

Mason grabbed his third six-pointer of the night with an eight-yard rush during the final quarter.

Oakland's misery was further extended when Matt Schaub - who replaced Carr in garbage time - was picked off by Trumaine Johnson, who ran it back home to make it 52-0.
