Jason Peters: 'Retiring as an Eagle would be wonderful'

Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters says that he is ready to "go into battle" for the franchise for the next five seasons and hopes to end his career with the team.

Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jason Peters has stated that he hopes to retire with the franchise, having agreed a new deal on Wednesday.

Peters is the first of three Eagles players to sign a new contract - a five-year agreement which will keep him there until 2018.

When his deal expires, Peters will be 36 years old and probably at the end of his NFL career.

He told the team's official site: "It feels wonderful. Just knowing that you're going to be in one spot and be one of the first Eagles to retire here, it just feels good.

"I guess they didn't want to risk losing me, and I didn't want to go anywhere. I let them know that and we got it done.

"It's a whole lot of weight off my shoulders, just knowing that I'm going to be here, be in Philly. I loved it here from day one when Coach Reid brought me in, and I'm ready to go to battle for Chip Kelly now too.

"I'm with him for the next five years."

In five seasons with the Eagles since arriving from the Buffalo Bills, Peters has been a Pro Bowl selection four times, missing one campaign through injury.
