The Philadelphia Eagles have fired coach Chip Kelly following their failure to make the NFL playoffs for a second straight season.
Sunday's 38-24 defeat to the Washington Redskins saw the Eagles drop to 6-9, ending their hopes of reaching the post-season.
"We appreciate all the contributions that Chip Kelly made and wish him every success going forward," Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie said in a club statement.
Kelly arrived in Philly two years ago and managed 10-6 records in his first two seasons in the NFL, losing to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Wild Card Game in 2013, his only playoff match.
Ed Marynowitz, vice-president of player personnel, has also left the NFC East team.
