Pittsburgh Steelers' James Harrison prepared to play limited role

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison concedes that, at the age of 37, he will have to play a reduced role at the club in the 2015 season.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison reveals that he is ready to play a smaller role with the club in the 2015 season.

The 37-year-old re-signed for the Steelers during the middle of last season after initially retiring from the league, and played in 11 games for the AFC North side due to their injury problems.

Now that Jarvis Jones and Ryan Shazier have returned to fitness, Harrison has conceded that his role will be limited when he takes the field in September.

"I feel good, and I'm in a far better position than I was last year," Harrison told the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. "I'm certainly in better shape. I can hit the ground running.

"My mindset is a little different [than last year] because I'm actually into football. Last year, it was just about working out. It's about football conditioning now.

"Nobody wants to be in a backup role. If that's your mentality, then you're not in the right sport. Everybody wants to start, but we all have roles to play. I think I can play more than 25 snaps a game when I'm 50."

Harrison recorded 45 tackles and 5.5 sacks in the 2014 season.
