Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith has admitted that he was "shocked" by the amount of support that his team received at Wembley on Sunday.

The Vikings travelled to London to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first of two NFL International Series matches to be played at Wembley this season, with Smith's side running out 34-27 winners.

Most of the support inside the stadium was for the Vikings, and Smith concedes that it felt like a normal home game for him and his teammates.

"I was actually shocked that it was a home game type feel. I thought it was going to be split maybe some just NFL fans that came kind of for the show, but it really felt like a home game out there," Smith told reporters.

"There was a great crowd interaction and getting loud on third down, getting excited for us. It was quite a sight out there. I think it's easy to say you've got jet lag, you've got to practice somewhere else, but I really felt like it was pretty comfortable.

"You're always going to be sore. We were dealing with soreness, no matter what. Like I said, the facilities were great. It felt like a home game. The crowd was great, everybody has been very hospitable here, so it was nothing but the best."

The win was the Vikings' first of the season, while the Steelers are still looking for their opening victory and now have a record of 0-4.
