Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe has claimed that Antonio Gates's suspension for the use of performance-enhancing drugs has brought into question his accomplishments throughout his career.
The San Diego Chargers man was banned by the NFL for four matches after he tested positive for the use of PEDs, which he then attributed to his use of holistic medicines.
However, Sharpe believes that the incident could overshadow Gates's achievements over the course of his 12-year career in the NFL.
"It calls into question everything that he's ever accomplished," Sharpe told Sirius XM NFL Radio.
"If he does it at the beginning of his career because he was an undrafted free agent, people are gonna say he did it to get in the league.
"Now he did it year 13, year 14. People are going to say he did it to remain in the league. It does, it makes you question everything someone has ever accomplished."
The 35-year-old has recorded 788 receptions for 10,014 yards and 72 touchdowns in his 12 years at the AFC West side.
