Manti Te'o has practised with the San Diego Chargers for the first time since injuring his foot at the start of pre-season.
The second-round draft pick, who missed six weeks with the sprain, was limited during yesterday's session.
The 22-year-old told the team's official website: "I really didn't know [how long I'd be out]. I was just doing everything I could do to hopefully make sure I could come back as soon as possible.
"I didn't really know how long I was going to be. Thankfully we've made great strides to where I was able to be part of practice [yesterday]. I'm very happy with that.
"It was nice to be back out there with the guys being part of practice. I did individual. I was able to do a few plays in team and stuff like that, just getting my feet wet. It's definitely been a learning process, but I'm glad I'm at the stage where I'm at now and I'll get better every day."
The Chargers play the Tennessee Titans this weekend.
