The San Francisco 49ers have promoted Derek Carrier from their practice squad ahead of today's game against the New Orleans Saints.
The tight end joined the NFC West side in September after being released by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 23-year-old is yet to play a game in the NFL, but featured in 39 matches during his college career, scoring 29 touchdowns in the process.
The 49ers could find themselves short at tight end for today's contest, with Garrett Celek listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury, while Vernon Davis needs to pass the final part of the league's concussion protocol.
