Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Joe Montana has said that Colin Kaepernick has room to improve.
The NFC West side's current starting quarterback took over from Alex Smith midway through the 2012 NFL season, but has seen his completions percentage drop this year.
Montana, who won four Super Bowls during his time with the 49ers, told USA Today: "I like his mobility and that he's getting the ball downfield, but sometimes, he needs to be more accurate in the pocket with pressure.
"The game is changing. Nobody wants to throw with pressure anymore. But the guys who can win in this league are the ones who can make throws from the pocket. Kaepernick still needs to get better at that. He'll look and then he's off and running.
"I still think the thing is the pocket and making those tight throws from the pocket. He'll make some, but a lot of times guys are wide open, and he misses them."
Kaepernick will look to lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row when they face the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC championship game this weekend.
